Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has said that rural women are a symbol of hard work, love, responsibility, and sacrifice.

She added that building a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous Punjab is not possible without the role of rural women.

Maryam Nawaz’s Message on International Day of Rural Women

In her message on the International Day of Rural Women, Maryam Nawaz said that this day is meant to recognize the efforts and struggles of women in rural areas.

She paid tribute to their strength, dedication, and sacrifices.

She said, “Rural women bring life to Punjab’s fields with their hard work. They help keep homes running and strengthen the economy

These women are not just workers — they are partners in Punjab’s progress. The safety of every woman, including those in villages, is my top priority.”

Empowering Rural Women

Maryam Nawaz said she wants rural women to become decision-makers and financially independent, not just farmers.

“A strong and self-sufficient Punjab cannot be built without their contribution,” she added.

The Punjab government, she said, has launched new programs and facilities for women living in villages.

These include the Kisan Card, Livestock Card, and Himmat Card, which provide easy access to financial and technical support. Basic Health Centers across Punjab are also being upgraded to offer better healthcare for rural women.

Education, Loans, and Skills Training

Maryam Nawaz highlighted that interest-free loans, laptops, and scholarships are helping improve the lives of young women in rural areas.

She announced that a new skill development program is being launched to train women for better job opportunities.

The government is also providing livestock for self-employment and has set up virtual police stations to protect women’s rights in all communities.

Rural Women’s Day Observed Across Pakistan

Like other countries, Pakistan is also celebrating the International Day of Rural Women to honor their role in improving society and the economy.

Rural women in Pakistan do much more than household chores — they work side by side with men in farms and fields.

However, after recent floods damaged agricultural lands, many have struggled to find work and have demanded fair wages and government support.

Local officials said that rural women play a key role in national development, and the government will assist flood-affected women in every possible way.

They added that damage assessment surveys have been completed to ensure timely help and recovery efforts.

Maryam Nawaz concluded her message by saying that the strength and progress of Punjab depend on empowering its rural women — the true builders of the province’s future.
